*A section of Lakeshore Road in Lambton Shores (County Road 7) reopened on Thursday afternoon after culvert failures caused more than just a bump in the road.
"Following that repair that was completed on July 13, we had two other culverts that required replacement on [an] urgent basis, those culverts are currently being replaced at this time," said County of Lambton Manager of Public Works Matt Deline. "The original closure was due to the failure of a 48-inch culvert."
Deline attributed the culvert failures to significant rainfall events in the area. He also said situations like this have happened "from time to time" in the county.
As of Tuesday, Lakeshore Road remains closed between Highway 21 and Townsend Line.
"The road is scheduled to be reopened at end of day Thursday," Deline said. "We currently have further backfilling to do of the culvert and then we have asphalt repairs to complete."
As the emergency repairs are not yet completed, Deline could not provide a finalized cost.
"With the three culverts that need to be replaced, they were all in varying sizes so some of the smaller ones could be in the $40,000 range with the larger one being the $100,000 range," Deline said.
He said changes or updates regarding the reopening of Lakeshore Road will be posted to the county's social media pages.
