Members of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) are encouraging cross-border travellers to declare all firearms after a few handguns were seized at the Blue Water Bridge.
CBSA officers seized three handguns in three separate incidents within a 48-hour time span at the port of entry connecting Point Edward and Port Huron, Michigan.
A media relations coordinator with CBSA told Sarnia News Today that the first incident occurred on July 29, when officers seized a Ruger SR22 pistol.
On July 30, border officials seized a Bauer Automatic .25 calibre pistol and on July 31, police seized a Taurus G2c 9 millimetre pistol.
According to a social media post, the travellers were redirected to the U.S.A. and faced penalties.
CBSA did not specify what the penalties were or any details about the accused.
