Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is holding its first Youth Makers Expo to showcase the talent of young crafters and artisans in the community.
Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator Maddisyn Fisher said goods such as paintings, toys, clothes, and jewelry will be available to purchase during Saturday's event.
Over 20 vendors have signed up.
"Folks can really just peruse as they wish and we have some stations that Sarnia-Lambton Rebound as well to learn about some programming," Fisher said. "Anybody who completes the map that we give will be able to get a free hot dog and drink."
Fisher said there will also be a dedicated youth trade zone in order to swap items such as toys, cards, and collectibles.
The expo was made possible after Rebound received grant funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation through the Resilient Communities Fund. Fishers said they received $200,000 to put forth a survey and later deliver on what youth wanted to see.
"The main thing that these youth wanted to see in our community was a makers market for our young vendors to share their creations, to sell their stuff... just for young entrepreneurs to really shine in the community," said Fisher.
The survey was completed by youth ranging from eight to 24 years old.
The event will be held on Saturday, August 19 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Church and Sarnia-Lambton Rebound. There will be no entry fee.
