Sting's 17th Black and White game supports United Way

Sarnia Sting fans can get a glimpse of this year's roster during the team's annual Black and White game on Thursday night.

In lieu of buying tickets, fans are asked to make a donation at the gates towards the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton.

Sting Manager of Marketing Daniel McAuley said the team is thrilled to support such a worthy cause once again.

"We are excited to cap off our 2023 Training Camp presented by Ironworks Fitness with our 17th annual Black and White Game," said McCauley in a statement. "This is an event that we as an organization look forward to each year as our generous fans come together to help us support the United Way and the important work they do in our community. With this year's event, our goal is to raise $5,000 for the United Way between donations at the gates and the 50/50 raffle."

McAuley said the newly renovated Honey Pot will also be open for browsing and purchases.

United Way of Sarnia-Lambton Executive Director Dave Brown said they're excited.

"We're also very appreciative of the Sarnia Sting hockey club and all the fans that come out," said Brown. "Last year's Sarnia Sting season ended on a really positive note, so we're hoping that momentum will carry through. We hope we have a good campaign this year, and we hope it's an equally successful season for the Sarnia Sting."

Since its inception, the Sting have helped raise an estimated $45,000 to help local United Way programming.

Donations received help fund 18 local agencies that provide about 30 programs and services in Sarnia-Lambton. They have a direct impact on the lives of youth, families and seniors.

Familiar faces on the training camp roster include Ben Gaudreau, Nick Surzycia, Lukas Fischer, Josh Hoover, Owen MacDonald, Mitch Young, Carson Campbell, Marko Sikic, Zach Filak, Tyson Doucette, Sandis Vilmanis, Easton Wainwright, Cooper Way, Carson Hall, and Sean Doherty.

Fans will also be able to check out some of this year's draft picks, some new import players, and free agents looking to crack the roster.
