If you have hazardous waste lying around your home, you can safely dispose of it this weekend.
The County of Lambton's Public Works Department is working with Clean Harbors to host a free mobile collection day.
It will take place on Saturday, October 21 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the County Public Works Depot located at 6958 Townsend Line in Lambton Shores.
Public Works Manager Matt Deline said corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials will be collected.
"These items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they have the potential to injure sanitation workers and the potential to damage our environment," said Deline. "Sharps (hypodermic needles) and fluorescent lightbulbs are also accepted."
Items that won't be accepted include: PCBs, commercial, industrial, agricultural, or radioactive wastes, tires, explosives (flares and ammunition), electronics, and asbestos containers weighing more than 25kg (55lb).
For safety reasons, we're asked to separate lithium batteries from all other battery types prior to drop-off.
