Lambton Works Centre showcase services

Lambton County invited the public to learn more about the services it offers  at its downtown Sarnia centre.

An open house was held Wednesday to showcase how the centre connects job seekers and employers.

Recently, the province changed how it delivers employment services and the City of Windsor was selected to manage the regional program and Lambton County was selected to be a local service provider.

Susan Blommers, supervisor for employment services at the County of Lambton, said the works centre started providing employment services in January 2024.

"We have a good number of people already joined up with us and every day we have more people walking in and looking for service," she said.

Some of the services offered by the Lambton Works Centre include job coaching, resume and cover letter creation, interview preparation, career exploration, and job matching.

Blommers said the open house was mainly for people to learn more about the services.

"Just learn more about the services that (Lambton Works Centre) provides, how we can support them, what they can access for free in the resource centre," she said. "It is a well used centre. We have lots of people that come for different reasons, it's not just for employment. We can also support people that are looking to connect to community resources, apply for education."

The Lambton Works Centre also works with local employers looking for support to fill employment opportunities.

Services included in that are venues for job fairs, job postings, application screening, job matching, and on-going placement support.

It also provides services at local libraries across the county at specific dates and times.

Anyone looking for information is urged to stop by the centre at 162 Lochiel Street, call the centre at 519-344-2062 ext. 2019 or visit their website.
