The separate school board has followed suit of the public school board and set a balanced budget for the 2024-2025 school year.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board [SCCDSB] approved the $141 million budget on Tuesday, June 18.
Director of Education Scott Johnson said it underscores the board's "unwavering commitment to providing high-quality programs and essential support for all students."
“Our focus on student achievement remains steadfast, guided by the board’s strategic and student achievement plans,” said Johnson.
The budget represents an $11 million increase over the 2023-2024 school year.
The board said the increase is the result of provincially negotiated settlements with various employee groups.
Moving forward, the board said it will continue to prioritize several initiatives, including: mental health support, student engagement and success, curriculum enhancements, literacy and numeracy support and technology access.
The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) also approved a balanced budget for the upcoming school year.
The LKDSB will spend $369.36 million in 2024-2025, up from $336 million spent during the 2023-2024 school year.
