The mayor of Warwick Township says a report is expected in the "very near future", with potential solutions to the flooding concerns that have plagued certain areas of the municipality following heavy rainfall events.
Danielle and Jason Vanwynsberghe voiced their concerns surrounding flooding in the McGregor Street area to council at its most recent meeting.
"With heavy rain the sewers can't keep up, resulting in the street flooding, which has resulted in all homes from Nauvoo to Sunset having basement flooding up to [two feet]. Including sewage," read the delegation.
Mayor Todd Case acknowledged the concerns and said the municipality has been working with engineers from Spriet Associates Ltd. to improve drainage.
"We've asked them to take a look at the different areas in the community, as well as the rural area, to see what we can do to better the situation," he said. "So we will be getting that information back from them very soon and then council will have to discuss what we can do and where we're going to go, the budgetary part of it as well."
Case said details of the report, including different scenarios to consider, will be released to the public once it's ready.
He said at this point, it's difficult to determine where to start to address the issue, which is what the report will help determine.
"Everything is interconnected, that's the hard part. It's easy to fix one section but then you might be putting more water on another section so we're trying to find the fairest and best way of dealing with it," he said.
Case noted how Warwick and Watford have been impacted by significant rainfall, as two state of emergencies were declared within an 11-month span due to flooding.
The most recent major storm in mid-July caused Kingscourt Road to be washed out between Confederation and Zion Lines.
"We're still adding up the damage of the last storm as well, that's a bit of a work in progress," Case said.
Case said he plans to call a special meeting in October to deal with drainage issues and the flooding situation.
