The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign continues to track ahead of last year's pace.
So far, $700,000 or 47 per cent of the $1.487 million target has been raised with just over two months left in the annual initiative.
Director of Development and Communications Ryan Doyle said it's another busy week for the campaign.
"So we're still getting a lot of foot traffic," said Doyle. "We sent out over 1,000 mailers last week so we're getting a lot of people coming in and making their donations in person which we absolutely love. It's the third week of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board campaign, and Imperial is hosting another event for us, they're actually doing an Octoberfest barbecue that's going to be really fun."
Currently, the Sarnia-Lambton United Way helps fund 17 local agencies providing 29 programs and services to the community.
Doyle said applications for one-year funding opens next month.
"The United Way Sarnia Community Investment Volunteer Committee is opening up applications for new funding in November," he said. "So, if any agencies or upstart charities want to apply for funding, they're welcome to do it, it's an open process and we accept all applications.
The volunteer committee will review the applications and decide which gets funding.
"We love to keep funding the same programs, because we have good relationships, we know their outcomes, we know they do good work but we're always on the lookout for new great ideas," said Doyle.
Final decisions for the 2025-26 funding allotment will be determined by the end of the year.
