The Alzheimer's Society of Sarnia-Lambton has been named the recipient of funds raised in the Tim Horton's Smile Cookie campaign this spring.
All of the proceeds from each Smile Cookie sold in Sarnia, including Bright's Grove, between Monday, April 28 and Sunday, May 4 will be directed to the organization.
Manager of Fund Development and Communications Marie Marcy-Smids said you could plan to have a special treat after voting in the Federal election on Monday.
"You can go vote, and then pick up a bunch of cookies for your offices, your businesses," said Marcy-Smids. "Make people smile! No matter which way the election goes."
Community Living Sarnia-Lambton surpassed its goal and raised nearly $64,000 in 2024.
"We were facing somewhat of a bit of a deficit this year, so with the Smile Cookie [campaign], if we do really well... we'll be in pretty decent shape," she said.
Funds raised will directly support local programs and services, including the day program, in-home respite, one-on-one counselling, support groups and educational resources.
"There are over 3,000 people in Sarnia-Lambton with dementia. When you factor in care partners, so each person usually has two care partners, that number swells to 9,000 people in Sarnia-Lambton that are impacted by Alzheimer's or another dementia," Marcy-Smids added.
She and clients from the day program launched the campaign on Thursday.
"There's an opportunity to have bulk orders for businesses, or you can just go on your own and get a smile cookie. All proceeds, 100 per cent of the proceeds, go to the Alzheimer's Society," Marcy-Smids said.
Bulk order forms can be dropped off at any local Tim Hortons 72 hours before the pickup date.
