Sarnia Army cadets will be celebrated during a century-old tradition this weekend.
The 122nd annual ceremonial parade is scheduled to take place on June 14 at the Sarnia Armouries, located at 574 Confederation St.
Unit Public Affairs Representative Jeremy Kearney said 30 cadets are registered in the program.
"The ceremonial review goes over the accomplishments and the dedication of the cadets," Kearney said. "They're [given] different awards, they show their families and community the drill that they've learned throughout the year, and it's just a way to celebrate the cadets."
Kearney said youth between the ages of 12 and 18 can join. There are three programs in Sarnia: Army Cadets, Sea Cadets, and Air Cadets.
"We focus more on the adventure training," Kearney said. "We do a lot of maps and compass [training], survival skills, treks and expeditions, and they get the opportunity -- if they work towards it, to do the basic military parachute course, which is one of the only courses an army cadet can do that actually transfers over to the military."
Meanwhile, the ceremonial parade will begin at 1 p.m., but guests are asked to be seated by 12:40 p.m.
Kearney said accessibility parking will be available and overflow parking will be at Tecumseh Park, beside the Sarnia Armouries.
Kearney said they hope to see many families and community members at the event.
