The finishing touches are being made to a Habitat for Humanity Sarnia-Lambton home on Wellington Street in Forest this week.
Chief Executive Officer David Waters said work also continues on a four-plex on Union Street in Forest, between two existing habitat homes.
"The one family, for the single family home, is hopefully moving in before Christmas, we're just waiting for hydro to be connected," said Waters. "The four-plex families have been selected and they've all started their volunteer hours."
Waters said they had a lot of teams and corporate support at the Wellington build, and hope to see the same on Union Street.

"We haven't had any teams out to the current project [on Union Street]. It's sort of in a different stage at this point. We will be welcoming teams once we're ready for them. It's probably another month or so that we will start to welcome teams on the Union Street property," he said.
Waters said the four-plex is in the final framing stages right now.
"Windows are going to be installed after, I think December 11-12, and then it will be totally sealed off and ready for siding and next steps," he said.

Waters said they hope to complete that project before the end of 2026.
Site services, including water and storm sewers, were also installed recently at a property they've been waiting nearly two years to build on in Sarnia.
"At some point, in likely early summer, we will break ground on the tiny home project on Christina Street," Waters said. "We're going to build five tiny homes, row housing that's all connected. They're going to be approximately 385 square feet each at 236 south Christina Street, across from Rainbow Park."
Plans to build the affordable housing units were postponed in 2024, over concerns related to the project's proximity to a homeless encampment at the park.
