Significant weather events have been declared in certain municipalities as heavy snow and strong wind gusts hamper the region.
The City of Sarnia issued the advisory shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, urging motorists to "practice extreme caution" if heading out.
Snow plows have been busy and are targeting primary roads first to facilitate emergency response times and transit access.
The city has deployed 11 plows, five sidewalk plows, four parking lot plows, and additional contractors.
Plows will clear secondary routes, such as side streets, once the snow has stopped falling and primary roads are cleared.
Residents are being asked to avoid parking on city streets to give plows more space to work.
The city is also reminding residents that there is no overnight parking on city streets through to March 31.
Only designated sidewalks will be cleared by city crews. Further details about snow removal can be found on the city's website.
Environment Canada issued a snow squall warning for Sarnia-Lambton on Wednesday, calling for 15 to 30 centimetres of snow. However, the warning ended for Sarnia shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday. It was lifted for the remainder of Lambton County at around 4:50 p.m.
Thursday's forecast called for an additional 20 to 40 centimetres of snow with northerly wind gusts of 50 to 60 kilomeres per hour.
Warwick Township also declared a significant weather event Thursday morning. The full statement can be found on the township's website.
