Ancaster driver charged following cannabis seizure in Lambton Shores

Lambton OPP seized a large quantity of cannabis during a traffic stop last week.

Police reported on Thursday that over 30 grams of the drug were discovered in a vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. on May 15 in Lambton Shores.

Officers had received an Automated Licence Plate Recognition alert regarding a vehicle travelling on Nauvoo Road near Brickyard Line.

A traffic stop was initiated on Rawlings Road near Townsend Line, and the driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

As a result of the investigation, officers searched the vehicle and located the cannabis.

A 65-year-old from Ancaster has been charged under the Cannabis Act and the Cannabis Control Act with distributing the drug and driving with it readily available.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on June 24.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Lambton OPP or Crime Stoppers.
