The wheels are in motion to investigate traffic patterns and pedestrian safety enhancements around Errol Village Public School.
Misty Dale, a parent council representative for the Camlachie school, told Plympton-Wyoming council at its recent meeting that several concerns have been raised.
"We have a lot of students that are walking to and from the school, and as you know the community is growing. There's more cars, there's more people, more safety concerns," Dale said.
The group is recommending three proactive enhancements to the area.
"We're requesting a crosswalk at Old Mill and Egremont roads, because right now there is no crosswalk and no lights," Dale said. "Then we were proposing a second crosswalk at Egremont Road and the new Trails Edge subdivision (Fleming Road)."

Dale said their second request is to add red lights to the existing stop signs at King Street and Egremont Road, and Fleming Road and Egremont Road.
The third request is to extend the community safety zone.
"We currently have a community safety zone from about Fleming and Egremont [roads] to Dalrymple [Street]," Dale. "We're asking to extend that community safety zone from the other side of Fleming, because we want to encompass the sidewalk past the bend on Egremont. That would encompass both crosswalks being in that community safety zone."
Councillor Bob Woolvett acknowledged the concerns as "very legitimate."
"It isn't that many years ago they were going to close that school," Woolvett said. "Now they're expanding it, and expanding it, and we're behind the times on safety, crosswalks, and stuff like that."
Council asked staff to develop a comprehensive report, compiling data before the school year ends, and report back with recommended options and costs to move forward with proposed improvements.
