Workers at Diamond Petrochemical Canada in Sarnia have ratified a new four-year collective agreement.
Members of Unifor Local 914 approved the deal in a vote on October 29.
It delivers wage increases of three per cent in year one, 3.25 per cent in years two and three, and 3.5 per cent in the final year.
The package also includes a $2,000 signing bonus.
Unifor National President Lana Payne commended union members for finalizing the agreement.
"Energy workers keep this country running, and they deserve contracts that reflect the value of their work," said Payne. "This agreement shows what members can win when they stand together and bargain with the strength of the energy pattern behind them."
In addition to wage hikes, the 30 members, who refine a range of chemical byproducts at Vidal Street South plant, secured a brand-new retirement benefit account, improved health benefits, and upgraded on-call provisions.
The agreement was reached under Unifor’s National Energy Pattern Bargaining Program.
