Sting hit the links in support of Pathways

Current and former members of the Sarnia Sting hockey club are hitting the links on Thursday in support of a great cause.

The organization's annual charity golf tournament is taking place at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, with all of the proceeds benefiting Pathways Health Centre For Children.

Sting Vice President of Business Operations Jake Bourrie said they're thrilled to be able to support the organization.

"We're really looking forward to it, it's our marquee event of the summer," said Bourrie.  "It's an opportunity for us to get back together as a group and do it all for a great cause. Pathways offers some amazing services for the youth in our community and it's a privilege to be able to support them through our golf tournament."

Confirmed guests for this year’s tournament include Alan Letang, Jakob Chychrun (Ottawa Senators), Jordan Kyrou (St. Louis Blues), as well as some other current and former Sarnia Sting stars.

Bourrie said through registration, auction items, on course games and donations, the Sting have helped donate $25,000 towards Pathways facilities and programming over the past six years.

This year's event kicks off at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. The Pathways Health Centre for Children is a family-centred community agency that serves Lambton County children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs and their families in addition to serving the broader community through a variety of programs and services.

For over 46 years, Pathways has been Sarnia-Lambton’s leader in developing innovative and inclusive programming for children, families, and other members of our community.

With over 3,400 clients and their families served in 2021 alone, Pathways is funded largely through the Ontario government and the County of Lambton, but also relies on the generosity of donors.
