A group of south Windsor residents appear to have saved their quiet neighbourhood from being "trashed" by connecting roads to a new 118-home development.
The subdivision proposal, just west of Division Rd. and behind Devonshire Mall, connects to Parkwood Ave., currently a dead end street.
Resident Albert Winter says the increased traffic is concerning for the many seniors and young families in the area.
"When we turn off we know there's going to be people walker their dogs, there are going to be kids playing there with their bicycles," Winter says. "There are no sidewalks, there are no curbs. We're on our best behaviour, we know we have to slow down. We all get to know each other and we know who drives what -- you just can't trash that. There are other ways to build roads in there."
Sharon Major has lived on Parkwood Ave. for 41 years.
"We just want you to leave our streets in some relative peace and quiet, whatever is left after all this has been done over these years," she says.
Tru Land Developments says it's neutral on how the roads connect, officials just want to get started before winter.
Residents from Parkwood Ave. and Woodlawn Ave. packed council chambers for a city committee meeting this week. Once the developer and city staff devise an updated plan it will appear before city council.
