--- "I am running for renewal of the democracy so Canadians are empowered to participate directly in decision-making. Without the people having the power to ensure that human needs and the public good, instead of the narrow interests of the rich, are at the centre of all things there will be no end to crises in the economy, politics, the environment, international affairs, culture, etc. I call on electors in Windsor West to vote for their own empowerment so they can exercise control over their lives and make the changes needed to take the society in a direction that favours them.
My main priority is working to establish an anti-war government that rejects the use of force in international affairs and upholds international law. That means getting out of NATO, NORAD and other arrangements tying Canada to the U.S. war machine. It means withdrawing our troops from Iraq, Syria and Ukraine and opposing Israel’s occupation of Palestine. A vote for me in Windsor West is a vote for Canada to become a force for peace rather than war, aggression and other interference in the affairs of sovereign countries and peoples as is taking place in our name today."
--- Interesting riding facts:
- Established in 1966, Windsor West was created using parts of the former Essex East and Essex West ridings
- Liberal Herb Gray held the seat for 34 years, from 1968-2002
- NDP Brian Masse has secured the riding since then
