A Windsor man faces a robbery charge after he allegedly punched a convenience store clerk in the face last night and took a box of beef jerky.
Police say a clerk at the Jefferson Blvd. Mac's Milk noticed a man hiding beef jerky in his jacket and confronted him in the parking lot.
The employee was able to retrieve the package of beef jerky, but was punched in the face by the suspect in the process, suffering a cut on his lower lip.
The employee went back inside with the jerky and called police. The suspect followed him, grabbed a box of beef jerky from the front counter, and left the store.
A citizen in the parking lot at the time helped the employee, and the two were able to wrestle the box of beef jerky away from the suspect.
However, when police arrived, they realized not all of the packages of jerky were in the box.
The suspect was tracked down a block from the store and arrested without incident. Police say they seized a total of five packages of beef jerky they found on him. He now faces a robbery charge.
