The Windsor Goodfellows says it will meet the demand for Christmas food hampers, but the general manager worries it won't in the new year.
Colleen Renaud says the organization is delivering 5,000 food boxes this week, up from past years, but donations have fallen off and demand typically picks up when the cold weather settles in January and February.
"This is where the people are getting the real high gas bills and hydro bills, so they need more help," says Renaud.
She says the organization can always use money to buy food, but failing that it'll accept things like canned stew, ham, soup, and peanut butter.
The Goodfellows newspaper drive fell $20,000 short of its $150,000 goal this year.
"We had one whole day where it rained," Renaud says. "Unfortunately, people don't roll down their windows then."
The organization also sent out 1,200 appeal letters.
