Tentative Deal At CS Wind

Over 330 members of Ironworkers Local 721 are set to vote on a tentative contract with Windsor's CS Wind on Saturday.

It's the first collectively bargained deal between the union and CS Wind Canada.

Jeff Heath with the company hopes the union membership agrees with the contract.

"I'm optimistic and I am hopeful that they will [ratify the deal] because it was well thought out and very well negotiated," says Heath, the director of corporate affairs at CS Wind.

The time and location for the ratification vote haven't been set yet.

Heath hopes a collective deal will have employees focused on the year ahead.

"We're looking forward to a growth year next year and we're anticipating that this is going to be behind us and we're going to be in a better position for future growth," says Heath.

The company was notified on June 3, 2015 by the Ontario Labour Relations Board that a number of its employees in Windsor had become members of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers union, Local 721.

CS Wind maintains non-unionized staff as well such as managerial, human resources and office positions.
