Highbury Canco Landing New Contracts

As Highbury Canco in Leamington lands more contracts they are looking to hire 80 more full time employees before the end of February.

That will put the number of workers at the plant to over 400.

President Sam Diab says they are in final negotiations with French's who is looking to use tomato paste from Highbury to make ketchup.

"They're really trying to find a way to grow the business in a bigger way and have us be one of their larger or really their dedicated paste supplier," says Diab.

If that happens Highbury will likely need to bring on an additional 15 to 20 tomato growers, more full time employees and more seasonal employees in the summer.

"If we're going to try and do something serious for this year our tomato pricing and contracting really happens late February, March primarily so the clock is really ticking on that," says Diab.
