West Windsor Community Hub Moving Forward

The United Way of Windsor-Essex is going to create a community hub in the city's west end, with the help of Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.

Local United Way CEO Lorraine Goddard says they're looking to bring private, public and not-for-profit groups together to make the project a reality.

"If you look at the Toronto model, they have seven different hubs in seven different neighbourhoods," she says. "Each one is a little bit different based on what the neighbourhood residents identify as being needed."

Goddard says, once the community is on board with the idea, it'll be about finding a location for the hub and figuring out what kind of space is needed.

Some United Way community hubs are simply used as a free space for the residents to use. They can also house key services and host activities.

Goddard says it'll really be up to residents in west Windsor, at the end of the day.

Anyone looking to get involved in the community hub project can contact the United Way of Windsor-Essex or Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.
