Social work students and faculty at the University of Windsor are enjoying life in the new building at the corner of Pitt St. and Ferry St.
The former Windsor Star location has been open for nearly a year already, and Program Director Robin Wright says the size and beauty of the facility is attracting better faculty and more students.
"It's given us certainly more status," she describes. "It's given us the ability to engage and access a broader range of communities, not only locally, but in the province and across Canada."
Wright believes the program's international pull is also growing, as Windsor's now home to one of the largest social work schools in the country.
The director says the massive lobby allows for large-scale events to be held.
"It also gives our PhD students room to have offices and our students room to have break-out sessions, to work on specific activities or problems," explains Wright.
The location also makes the school more central for those in the community who use its services.
