A large amount of dangerous drugs have been taken off the street after a Windsor police investigation.
At around 5:45pm on Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant in the downtown area and arrested a man and a woman.
Police seized 109.4 g of fentanyl powder, 66 fentanyl capsules, 25 fentanyl pills, and 35 oxycodone pills, eight fentanyl patches and 201.6 g of cannabis marijuana valuing approximately $55,000. Police also seized cell phones, digital scales and $1,700 in Canadian currency.
A 20-year-old woman is charged with eight counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. A 24-year-old man is also charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance with the purpose of trafficking.
The Windsor Police Service is warning the community that fentanyl powder is an extremely dangerous and potentially fatal drug. Communities across Canada have seen an alarming rise in deaths due to the misuse and abuse of fentanyl.
