Now that the weather is starting to warm up, the Essex Region Conservation Authority hopes area teens will consider its Teen Ranger program this summer.
The first two years of the program sold out, and there are only 40 spots open for teens aged 12 to 15.
"Our certified education staff will guide Teen Rangers through hands-on experiences," says Danielle Stuebing, director of communications and outreach services. "Program graduates will have an enhanced appreciation for all that makes this region the place for life, improved team-building skills and self-awareness."
Teens will learn skills like basic wilderness survival, canoeing, fire building, blacksmithing, caring for farm animals and weaving.
The program is four Tuesdays in August at Holiday Beach in Amherstburg, Hillman Marsh in Leamington, Cedar Creek and the John R. Park Homestead in Essex.
