Enwin Warns Of Door-To-Door Scam

If someone comes to your door claiming to be from Enwin and asking to test your water, send them away.

That message comes from Enwin Utilities after it received reports of somebody trying to get into people's homes to complete an "on-site test."

When the person conducts the test on the homeowner's tap water, it turns red, suggesting it is unsafe to drink, and a special filter is needed, which they happen to have for sale.

Enwin says it is a scam. The door-to-door salesperson does not represent the utility, and the filter is not necessary.

Enwin reminds homeowners that it is very rare for one of their contractors to visit door-to-door, and it will make every attempt to notify customers in advance. It does not sell products door-to-door, and will never ask for personal information at the door.

The utility also says always ask for photo ID when someone comes to your door and demands entry. Remember you do not have to let anyone inside, and if you feel unsafe, call Windsor police.
