Cornerstone Ceremony For Windsor's New City Hall

Construction is not expected to be complete until next year, but there will be a cornerstone ceremony Saturday for Windsor's new city hall.

The building, under construction next to the current city hall, is expected to cost 43.6-million dollars and open in May 2018.

That is when the current city hall will be decommissioned and eventually, demolished.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens will welcome Ontario's Grand Master of Freemasons and Masonic members from Windsor-Essex and Detroit to perform the ceremony just north of the current city hall. The event gets underway at 11am.

The stone will be placed on an interior wall along with cornerstones from two former city halls.

This will be the third time the Masons have held a cornerstone ceremony for a city hall in Windsor.
