Could open concept schools be a thing of the past for the Greater Essex County District School Board?
Trustee Ron Le Clair wants to find out if it's feasible for the board to renovate its two remaining open concept schools to create individual classrooms. He says open concept is an outdated practice and he'd like to see the schools updated.
"If we can do it, and it's cost effective it provides a better learning environment for our students and I think it also provides a much safer environment," says Le Clair.
Le Clair filed a notice of motion to request the feasibility report during Tuesday night's board meeting. The board will vote on the motion at its first meeting in September. If approved Le Clair requested to have the report back within 90 days.
Roseville Public School and Sandwich West Public School are the only open concept schools remaining in the system.
