DNA Leads To Arrest In Break And Enter

A Windsor man has been charged in connection with a break and enter after being identified by forensic investigators through DNA evidence.

The Windsor Police Service says a home on Pillette Rd. near Seminole St. was broken into by two suspects on November 16, 2017. When they realized the residents were at home, the pair took off and a small number of electronics were stolen from the home.

A DNA sample was collected at the scene by the Windsor Police Service Forensic Identification Unit and sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences, which responded with a match.

On Tuesday, the 28-year-old male suspect was spotted by police on Dougall Ave. and he was arrested without incident. He has been charged with one count of break and enter.

No information has been released about the second suspect.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
