There are still no talks scheduled between Caesars Entertainment and Unifor Local 444 to get 2,300 striking employees back to work.
The employees voted down a tentative agreement last night with only 41% of employees in favour of the agreement.
The usual hubbub surrounding the entrances to the casino and hotel were replaced Friday by the footsteps of picketing employees, some who had been at their posts since before dawn
The casino floor and other amenities were closed as of 11pm. Hotel guests were allowed to stay until check out Friday morning at 11am. By 2pm, all guests were out of the hotel.
At this time, all hotel reservations between April 6 until April 12 have been cancelled.
A statement from Kevin Laforet, regional president of Caesars Entertainment, says the management was surprised and disappointed that the agreement was voted down.
"We expect this will have a negative impact on our business in this very competitive market. I would like to personally acknowledge our valued customers and on behalf of myself and our management team apologize for the inconvenience this labour disruption causes," said Laforet in the emailed statement.
The Johnny Reid concert scheduled for Friday, April 6 has been postponed. Ticket holders can hold onto their tickets to be honoured on the new show date, to be determined. Refunds for postponed shows will be handled through the method of purchase, however, Box Office refunds will be processed once the labour disruption is resolved.
All future Colosseum shows will remain scheduled on their original date until further notice.
