Do You Feel Safe In Windsor-Essex?

Windsor ranks 65th out of 229 Canadian cities in the latest McLean's crime severity index.

The publication says Windsor's crime rate rose in 2016 compared to the previous year and is higher than the Canadian average. However, violent crime dropped to around the national average.

Murders and assaults are lower than the Canadian average but sexual assaults and robberies are higher.

The most dangerous city in Canada, according to the McLean's crime index, is North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Toronto ranks 124th.

Leamington ranks 166th, Amherstburg is 213th, Tecumseh ranks 216th, Kingsville is 219th, Lasalle ranks 222nd, Lakeshore is 224th and Essex ranks 226th.

Chatham-Kent ranks 107th, London ranks 83rd, and Sarnia ranks 70th.

The report ranks communities according to the Crime Severity Index (CSI), a Statistics Canada measure of all police-reported crime, which takes into consideration both the volume and seriousness of offences.
