UPDATE: Tentative Deal Reached With Caesars Workers

Striking workers at Caesars Windsor will have a chance to vote on another deal.

Unifor Local 444, which represents over 2,100 dealers, cooks, housekeepers and custodians, announced via Twitter Saturday night that they had reached a tentative deal to end the weeks-long walkout.

A similar message appeared on the local's official Facebook page.

The ratification vote will take place Monday, according to the tweet. The union announced Sunday that the vote will begin at 10am at the Ciociaro Club in Oldcastle.

A mediator had been brought in earlier this week and roundtable discussions between the two sides had been taking place. Those sessions broke off Saturday morning and the two sides returned to the bargaining table. The parties met for several hours before announcing a tentative pact.

The walkout, which began on April 6 with wages, benefits and job security among the main issues, is now the longest in Caesars Windsor history.  The employees walked out after rejecting the first tentative deal, then voted down a second proposal on May 18.

The labour dispute has shuttered the casino, with cancellations of hotel reservations, conferences and Colosseum shows through at least mid-June.

Caesars Windsor confirmed the tentative agreement with a tweet of its own, reiterating that the casino would remain closed until the dispute is resolved.

More details will be provided as they become available.
