Herman assault victim recovering at home

A 14-year-old boy who was assaulted near Herman high school is now home resting after being treated in a London hospital.

Jayden Trudell-Neroda suffered a fractured skull on Wednesday when he was sucker-punched, pile-driven on his head and knocked unconscious just outside of school by two teenaged boys who accused him of making derogatory comments.

His mother, Kelley Trudell, posted an update on Facebook saying that Jayden "is home and resting but will suffer the side effects of the brutal attack he endured for some time."

"The next couple weeks are going to be crucial for healing his brain and skull," she said. "He is on morphine for the time being, to help him cope with the constant headache he now lives with," she said.

Trudell added that the headaches have also caused Jayden to be sensitive to light and sound and the hearing on his left side is impaired. She said the family wont know until late October if Jayden will regain his hearing and he is expected to be out of school for a while.

Trudell said she hopes that parents talk to their kids and that teachers talk to their students because violence is never the answer.

"Something has to change," she said. "We can do better than this!"

Trudell credits her nephew Jaxon for pulling the suspect off her son and saving Jayden's life that day.

She said the support and love they have been given has been nothing shy of amazing and knows it means the world to her son.

The teen suspects who are accused of hospitalizing the 14-year-old are charged with aggravated assault and assault.
