The Rotary Club of Essex is looking for volunteers to help on several humanitarian projects in Ghana.
Rotary team leader, Kim Spirou says volunteers do not have to be members of the club.
"We need individuals with a keen desire to make a difference in the lives of others and willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in," said Spirou.
The volunteers will travel to the African nation in January 2019 to work on several projects including renovations at a school, building a sanitation facility with toilets and showers, drilling fresh water wells, and distributing textbooks to 500 school children.
Volunteers will need to pay for their airfare, food, transportation, and lodging; about $2,600. Some team members will stay for one week, while others remain for 18 days.

Most families in the region of Ghana the volunteers will travel to live on $5 a week. Most can not afford government health insurance. Sanitation is also lacking. Most water sources are contaminated by human waste and residue from nearby mining operations.
