Windsor police are asking for help in identifying two suspects in a west-side robbery.
It happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday. Officers were sent to a convenience store on Matchette Road near Prince Road after a report of a robbery that had just happened. Police said two people entered the building with their faces covered by clothing. One went behind the counter and put merchandise in a bag, while the other brandished a machete and directed the first man verbally.
After an unspecified amount of cash and merchandise was taken, the pair ran from the store and went eastbound. No one from the store was hurt.
The robber who went behind the counter is described as a black male with a medium build and about 6'0" tall. He was wearing blue jean pants, a yellow jacket with a dark hood, and black gloves.
The second suspect, pictured above, is also described as a black male with a medium build, standing 5'7" to 5'9". He was wearing grey pants, a black Nike hooded winter jacket, with a scarf covering his face, and he was carrying a Fit 4 Less duffle bag on his back. He also carried a large machete with a black handle.
The weapon has not been recovered, and police consider the pair armed and dangerous.
Investigators from the Major Crimes Branch have taken the lead on this investigation. They believe some witnesses had observed people acting strangely near the store shortly before it was held up.
Anyone who may recognize these men is urged not to approach them directly, but call 911 immediately. Those with information on this case should call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4830. Anonymous tips can be phoned in to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477) or submitted online.
