The Town of Lakeshore is getting more funding to prevent flooding.
Lakeshore will be receiving $237,500 to review storm sewers, including assessing the potential risks resulting from climate change.
"This review will provide options for both short and long-term solutions to mitigate the potential effects of climate change that may impact the town’s stormwater infrastructure," the town said in a news release Monday night.
The Lighthouse Cove project will also be receiving $42,500 to undertake a natural hazard study.
"The objective for this project is to develop alternatives to provide safe ingress and egress for the community of Lighthouse Cove during flood and ice jam events," added the municipality.
The study will suggest prevention methods and emergency response recommendations that could be included in a community Emergency Management and Response Plan.
Lakeshore is also getting $20,000 to enhance the Earth Walk Trail at the Atlas Tube Centre. Improvements include trees, benches and a Carolinian garden which will be unveiled during the Earth Day Easter Egg event scheduled on April 20 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Atlas Tube Centre.
