Windsor drug probe yields several charges

An investigation into an illegal drug operation in Windsor has resulted in four people facing a total of 30 charges.

Windsor police Constable Talya Natyshak said Tuesday that the probe was conducted by the service's Drugs and Guns Unit (DIGS) on Friday. Officers were looking into suspected trafficking of illicit drugs from a home that had been identified. Police then got a warrant to search the home. Natyshak said one man was located around 5 p.m. on Riverside Drive East near Caesars Windsor and was arrested. Soon after, the warrant was executed at a home on Highland Avenue at Giles Boulevard East. Three other people were then arrested, with suspected illicit drugs and Canadian money seized from the property.

The two men and women, identified by police as 23-year-old Jade Freeswick, 49-year-old Terry Schultz, 23-year-old Stephanie Champagne, and 48-year-old Kimberly Teaney are each charged with possession of suspected methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, unlawful possession of suspected methadone and hydromorphone, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Also, Champagne is charged with unlawful possession of suspected oxycodone and breach of probation, and Schultz is also accused of breach of recognizance.

These charges have yet to be proven in court.
