A 16-year-old boy is charged in connection with a series of hold-ups, two of them in one location.
On Tuesday afternoon around 4:30 p.m., Windsor police officers learned about a robbery that had just happened at McKay Avenue and Pelletier Street. The young victim reported that someone wearing a mask brandished a knife and demanded money. The suspect fled with no injuries reported.
Constable Talya Natyshak said around 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to investigate a convenience store robbery on Tecumseh Road West near Everts Avenue. The suspect in that incident matched the one provided by the victim in the previous robbery. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the convenience store.
Natyshak said during the investigation, it was determined that the same business was held up on May 23. Police, believing the three incidents were connected, canvassed the area.
Around 7 p.m., the youth was arrested on Curry Avenue north of Campbell Avenue. A warrant was executed on a nearby home, where police discovered items believed to be used in all three robberies.
The youth, who is not being identified in accordance with the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with three counts each of robbery and using a mask to commit the robbery. These charges have yet to be proven in court.
