Video released of suspect vehicle in Windsor motorcycle crash

Windsor police are asking for help in identifying a vehicle connected to a crash that injured a motorcyclist.

The collision took place around 12:45 p.m. on Monday on Dougall Avenue near the E.C. Row Expressway. The rider was travelling northbound on Dougall Avenue when he was struck, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge, the WPS public information officer. The rider was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries while the motorcycle sustained serious front-end damage.

After talking to witnesses, officers determined the incident was a hit-and-run matter, in which a vehicle was completing a U-turn on Dougall Avenue, struck the motorcyclist, then took off.

Police have released surveillance camera footage of the suspect vehicle making the U-turn from the southbound lanes of Dougall and are asking the public to take a look at it. The collision took place just outside of the shot and the vehicle is clearly seen driving off in the northbound lanes.

The vehicle is described as a red four-door sedan, possibly a Chevrolet. It should have fresh damage to the front passenger side.

Investigators are asking the driver of the vehicle to turn themselves in. Anyone with information on the crash itself, or on the whereabouts of the vehicle, is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4000. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477) to be eligible for a cash reward.
