The Ambassador Bridge has new NEXUS lanes open to improve and expedite service for commuters.
The three new NEXUS eGate lanes allow border services officers to remotely process Canada-bound NEXUS members from inside a port of entry office by using radio-frequency identification, closed-circuit television, and Voice over Internet Protocol.
NEXUS members crossing the border will also have over 20 additional hours of service each week.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) promises to continue working with more owners and operators to expand the NEXUS eGate lanes at additional ports of entry.
“This will be of great benefit to not only our Nexus customers, but all international traffic," said Dan Stamper, president of the Canadian Transit Company. "This unique use of technology along with extended hours and the ability to open additional lanes will benefit those who are returning from the United States later in the evening."

Any NEXUS member can use the NEXUS eGate lane, including deaf and hard of hearing travellers, as the lane provides an accessible service for all clients.
NEXUS is designed to expedite the border clearance process for low-risk, pre-approved travellers into Canada and the United States.
