An exhaustive investigation spanning more than a year has resulted in the arrest of a second suspect in the shooting death of a University of Windsor student.
Jason Pantlitz-Solomon died in the early morning hours of August 26 of last year. He had been at a party downtown with his 19-year-old girlfriend and were standing outside a pizza restaurant at the corner of Ouellette Avenue and University Avenue when gunshots rang out.
At the time, police said two men wearing hoodies, cinched tightly over their faces to conceal their identities, fired several gunshots hitting Pantlitz-Solomon and his companion.
The two fled in a white Nissan Altima.
The next day, police in the Peel Region found a similar-looking vehicle and recovered a handgun believed to have been one of the weapons used in the shooting in Windsor.
The woman was treated for a gunshot wound on her leg and released from the hospital, but Pantlitz-Solomon succumbed to his injuries.
Keima Davis-Baynes, 22, was arrested in the Peel Region last June and faces first-degree murder and attempted murder charges.
The second arrest was made Tuesday in the Peel Region. Police also charged Shanice Wynter, 21, of Mississauga with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Windsor police Sergeant Steve Betteridge stressed the investigation is still very active, and a $5,000 reward is still being offered for information leading to more arrests and prosecutions.
