Mizuno appointed police chief permanently

The Windsor Police Service has found a permanent replacement for Al Frederick, and it is a familiar face.

Friday morning, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens formally appointed Pam Mizuno.

Last June, the Windsor Police Services Board appointed the then Deputy Police Chief as Acting Police Chief.

She was the first woman to hold the job in the history of the 152-year-old police force.

Last summer, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens said the choice to place Mizuno in the position left vacant by Frederick's retirement was not hard to make.

"It was, I think, very easy for the board to say we had no problem, and we had full confidence asking Pam to take the acting chief role as we work through that process," he said.

Mizuno beat out three other candidates for the job.
