Windsor Regional Hospital CEO David Musyj says there are still many hurdles to jump before construction can begin on the new hospital.
"You need to continue to advocate for this, if anything, even stronger now, because now technically there is nothing in our way," said Musyj.
The Local Planning Appeal Tribunal dismissed the appeal filed by the Citizens for an Accountable Mega-hospital Planning Process on Tuesday.
Almost two years ago to the day, the provincial government announced the region would be moving to phase two of the planning process for a new hospital. The $9 million needed to complete that phase was never forwarded.
"This is where we put into words how each program is to be operated in the new facility. Not only with respect to the physical space that's needed but with respect to the staffing, with respect to the patients.
None of this work can begin until the province provides funding. Once funding is forwarded it could take up to four years to complete the planning phase before going out for tender on the design and construction of the facility.
The Citizens for an Accountable Mega-hospital Planning Process still have around 30 days to request a review or file for an appeal in the court of the LPAT decision issued Tuesday.
