Suspect arrested, another at large in Askin shooting (PHOTO)

One suspect has been arrested and another remains at large following a shooting in a west side Windsor neighbourhood.

Windsor police officers responded to a home on Askin Avenue near Pelletier Street at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday and found a gunshot victim. He was treated in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

On Thursday, police found a parked vehicle associated with a suspect in the area of Park Street West and Bruce Avenue. Officers soon located a man who then tried to run. K-9 Unit officer Hasko was then deployed to help subdue the suspect, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.

Jeffery Kumi, 27, of Windsor, was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries. He was then charged with attempted murder, six various gun-related counts, breach of probation, and possession of fentanyl with the intent to sell. These charges have not been proven in court.

Police are looking for a 19-year-old man from Brampton who is wanted on several charges related to this incident, including attempted murder. Ilyas Gilao, pictured below, is believed to have ties to the Greater Toronto Area and is considered armed and dangerous. If you see the suspect, do not approach yourself. Call 911 immediately.
