This year's Vital Signs survey could offer insight into the priorities of the residents of Windsor and Essex County during a pandemic.
For the last eight years, the Windsor Essex Community Foundation has been collecting data through the Vital Signs survey about the community's views on health and wellness, food security and the environment. The data is used by municipalities, charitable organizations and other community groups to form strategic plans and priorities.
"Vital Signs is a snapshot of our community that measures the vitality of our region by identifying strengths, needs, and trends and supports action on issues that are critical to our community's quality of life. Vital signs allow for evidence-based decision making and can be used to track community progress over time," said Lisa Kolody, Executive Director of the Windsor Essex Community Foundation.
Kolody admitted this survey could identify some unique needs in the community as the pandemic likely brought to light some new concerns.
"It will help us to gauge what's happening during the COVID environment and we'll see if the trends stay or if it's a one-off because of what people are experiencing right now," said Kolody.
The survey is available online until the end of July. The Community Foundation is encouraging all residents to take 15-20 minutes to complete the survey. The results will be reported in October.
