A 31-year-old man is facing charges after Windsor police seized hundreds of grams of the deadly drug fentanyl.
The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Windsor Police Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit that began in May. During the course of the probe, a suspect was identified.
On Wednesday, investigators spotted a vehicle being driven on Highway 401 toward Windsor. Surveillance on the vehicle was started, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge, public information officer.
Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, officers stopped the vehicle on King Street near Prince Road in the west end. A man was arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle uncovered 250 grams of suspected fentanyl in assorted colours, three 80-milligram oxycodone tablets, and a number of cell phones.
Mohamud Farah of Toronto has been charged with four counts of possession of fentanyl with the intent to sell, and one count of oxycodone possession.
These charges have not been proven in court.
