For the second month in a row, house sales increased in Windsor-Essex in August.
The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors reported a 17.61 per cent increase in sales in August over August 2019.
Sales were up in July, too, after suffering three consecutive months of drops in the number of properties that changed hands.
In July, sales increased by 5.05 per cent over the same month a year before. They were down 54.89 per cent in April, 38.96 per cent in May, and in June, 3.42 per cent.
It could be a sign that the market is recovering from the pandemic's height when realtors were not allowed to host in-person showings.
Monthly listings were down in August, but not by much, only 1.27 per cent. A total of 936 properties went up for sale compared to 948 in August 2019. The association said there were 906 properties currently on the market.
The average price of a home in the region continues to climb. Last month, it was $430,810, while a year ago, it was $336,472.
