Second phase of Provincial/Division improvements underway

A stretch of Provincial Road shut down Monday morning near Legacy Park Drive for the second phase of road and sewer improvements.

This part of the project will cost $8.9-million, following the $11-million investment in the first phase at the intersection of Cabana Road and Provincial Road a few years ago.

"The Provincial/Division Road corridor has experienced a significant increase in traffic volume in recent years, largely due to the tremendous growth in the development of nearby commercial and residential centres," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "Council's substantial investment into this multi-year project will help deliver on our promise to fix Windsor's roads by improving drainage and infrastructure, improving safety, reducing traffic congestion, cutting travel times, and increasing active transportation."

The city will build the new North Roseland Pump Station at Captain Wilson Park as part of the construction. However, most of the work will be underground.

New truck sewers will go in on Provincial Road, connecting it to the Sixth Concession Drain.

A second trunk sewer will go in crossing the CN Railway to the new pump station.

Phase three of the project, starting in 2022, will include new sewers and water mains.

Phase four includes road improvements from Lone Pine to the Lowe's intersection and east of Lowe's to Walker Road. There will also be more work from Cabana Road East to the Grand Marais Drain.

The entire project is expected to cost approximately $76-million.
